Cornelia Victoria Liberty

Cornelia Victoria Liberty has loved the magic of words for as long as she can remember. From a very early age, she invented fantastical stories that opened doors into other worlds. She knows the power of dreams — and that the things we dare to imagine can become a path into a more joyful, alive, and meaningful life.

Today, Cornelia is living the life she once only dreamed of — building her own bridge between Germany and the sun-drenched coast of Southern California. When she first came to Hermosa Beach in 2016, she felt immediately that she had arrived somewhere special: a place of wide horizons, sparkling ocean light, movement, friendship, and possibility. Her love for the Pacific, the warmth of its people, and the magical light of Hermosa Beach found their way into every page of The Ocean Within.

This book is a true family co-creation. Cornelia created the story together with her daughters, Katharina and Victoria — bringing together a mother’s imagination, wisdom, and love with her daughters’ natural sense of wonder, joy, and magic. Katharina brings Lea and Fini’s world to life through her luminous illustrations, drawn in both Germany and Hermosa Beach. Victoria’s playful, out-of-the-box imagination inspired many moments in the story — including the magical pendant that allows Lea to cross into Dolphin World.

For Cornelia, creating together is more than a process. It is a way of living. The mother-daughter team’s most beautiful ideas often began simply: walking along the beach, sitting in the sand, sharing a coffee, or letting the ocean open new doors in their imagination.
